NORFOLK, Feb. 15 – Joseph Bryan Yale, 47, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at his home in Norfolk. Born April 3, 1963 in Portsmouth he was a Dairy and Frozen Food Clerk with Food Lion and an avid bowler.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Mattox; children, Joseph Bryan Yale Jr., Ashley Nicole Yale, Bryan Alexander Mattox and Kathryn Lois-Marie Mattox all of Norfolk; his parents, Gary and Patricia Yale of Meherrin; brother, David Yale and wife, Shannon of Lynchburg; sister, Rebecca Yale of Waynesboro and several nieces, and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 19, in the Yale Family Cemetery, Meherrin.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Friday in the chapel of Shorter Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 26, at Thalia United Methodist Church, Norfolk.
