RICHMOND, Feb. 8 – Josa Carlton Baldwin, 92, of Richmond, formerly of Buckingham, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon L. Baldwin.
Mrs. Baldwin was well known and respected as an elementary school teacher and highly regarded as the principal at Buckingham Elementary School. She was a dedicated member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she joyfully filled many roles, including pianist, Sunday School teacher and Bible School leader. After her retirement she pursued many passions, becoming an accomplished water color artist, teaching adult literacy, traveling with her beloved husband of 67 years, and most importantly, entertaining her grandchildren during their summer visits to Buckingham.
She is survived by her sons, Lee Baldwin (Ursula) of Altamont Springs, FL and Bill Baldwin (Nancy) of Basye; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Patrick) Gray, Joseph Baldwin, Jeston (Travis) Lotz and Katie Baldwin, and a great-granddaughter, Harper Lotz.
A funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 7, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Buckingham.
