Gun Rights In The Real World

Editor, The Herald:
In reflecting on our Constitutional gun rights that were recently blasted by one of our local anti-Second Amendment letter-writers it seems reasonable to examine the letter for accuracy. The letter states that safety is sinking with the rise of the “NRA and Second Amendment howlers.” The only way this could be possible is if criminals turn to a level of stupidity that tells them to rob more people in areas of high populations of legal gun owners. He also questions why the insane and felons are walking around with guns. Very simple answer: Laws on the books preventing such actions have been “bullet riddled” by the ACLU – in order to protect criminals from our legal systems – of whom the far left Mr. X's of this country are so endeared to. Lie with dogs, you get fleas!
The letter questions, “Why shouldn't a civilian be restricted to guns that require he squeeze the trigger each time he wishes to discharge a bullet?” Once again he is dealing with something he has absolutely no knowledge of. In order to possess a class III fully automatic firearms license extensive background and security checks must be completed. Fact is, President Obama wouldn't qualify, due to his known association with underground terrorist Bill Ayers and Bernadette Dohrn. Here is the bottom line. I don't care if an honest person has a tiger tank. They are not going to hurt anybody with it.
Then there is the history professor referred to, hand-picked by that bastion of liberalism, NPR, that made some phony claims concerning rising crime rates in areas where legal concealed carry permits exist. Blatantly untrue! Every state where concealed carry is the law of the land has seen a dramatic decrease in gun crimes over the last decade. Some as much as twenty percent. I have been interviewed twice by NPR. Believe me, their legacy of far left fanaticism is well founded. Our history professor and letter-writer go on to expound, incorrectly, that the Second Amendment was intended by our Founding Fathers to refer only to well-regulated militia's and not private ownership of firearms. Go on-line and read the personal letters and thoughts of the Founding Fathers. It will become evident very quickly that once again the letter-writer and the good professor know absolutely nothing of what they are talking about.
I have a question-if you had been seated in that devastated Virginia Tech classroom a couple of years ago on that snowy April morning, would you have wanted your professor to have had a legally concealed firearm? Or, how about your pilots, had you been on one of the four ill-fated jets on 9-11-01. Did you answer yes, or do you have “ostrich syndrome?” In case you haven't noticed we live in the real world, not Oz.
Here's a thought for anti-gun zealots-next time you and your family, or friends, are seated in a restaurant having a nice meal, look around you – if you are particularly blessed – there just may be some citizens with concealed carry permits sitting around you like a band of guardian angels. In the event of a catastrophe by a lunatic, one of them may save your life.
Congresswoman Giffords didn't have that luxury in Tucson that day last month. That brings up an interesting point. She believes in concealed carry, yet not one of her constituents had a weapon, which would have averted much of that carnage. It's not just coincidence that ninety percent of them were affiliated with the Democratic Party. Over 97 percent of all anti-second Amendment legislation coming down the pike over the last half century has been introduced by the Democratic Party. In contrast, Republican Robert Hurt was usually guarded better than Ft. Knox while on the campaign trail – whether he knew it or not. So was Dick Morris in Appomattox. He seemed to be very appreciative of that fact.
To sum it up, the reality of life is like this: God gave every creature on this planet a means of defense. Snakes have fangs, predators have teeth and claws, rabbits and deer have great speed, camouflage and well-developed senses, birds can fly, and law-abiding citizens have Glocks, although liberals refuse to take advantage of it (for some reason they could never quite make clear to me). The simple reason as to why four million can trump 330 million is because we have truth and common sense on our side. It's what makes America, America. It never ceases to amaze me that the left side of this great country seems to love the way of life India and Europe have to offer. I believe you can find work there. Yes, it is true that the titanic went down – but those aboard went down fighting!
