Feet For Fire 5K Set For April 16

Prince Edward Area Firefighters Association will be hosting its second annual Feet for Fire 5K Run/Walk at Hampden-Sydney Volunteer Fire Department encircling the beautifully landscaped Campus.
Whether an avid runner, fair weather jogger, or Sunday stroller, this 5K is for you. Family participation is encouraged; bring mom and dad, grandma and grandpa. Put the stroller in the SUV so that little Sarah can be a part too. Walkers and wheelchairs are welcome. Need someone to push? The Association will provide a partner.
There are many volunteer positions that need to be filled and the community can support this worthy cause by making a donation. All are welcome to stand on the sidelines and cheer on the participants.
The Association is very excited to announce that in addition to the 5K Run/Walk there will be a firefighter relay. Firefighters from Prince Edward and surrounding counties will compete in this team event in an effort to raise awareness of physical fitness. Each firefighter will run a leg of the course in turnout gear (with the exception of boots, all team members will wear running shoes), and each participant will be wearing an air pack.
This event will take place on Saturday, April 16. The Firefighter Relay will begin at 8 a.m. followed by the Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Please go to www.feetforfire.com for details or to register or make a donation. Registration and donation forms and business sponsorship packages are available from Tracie Giles at 434-547-2136 or Sekou Abdus-Sabur at 434-607-1945. Donations can also be sent to Feet for Fire (c/o Phyllis Mason), P.O. Box 155, Prospect, Virginia 23960.
