Editor, The Herald:
On behalf of the Cumberland County Christmas Parade Committee, I would like to thank each of the parade participants, as well as all who assisted with the parade, for their hard work and desire to make this the best parade ever.
This was truly a parade that exhibited wonderful community spirit. The spirit of the holiday season was everywhere.
I would also like to thank each member of the Parade Committee for their dedication and hard work throughout the year. Without them, there would be no parade.
This year the community received a special treat when the helicopter from Centra Southside Community Hospital landed in front of the Cumberland High School. I would like to thank the flight crew and the Hospital for the opportunity for our community to see the helicopter up close.
Special thanks to Sheriff Darrell Hodges and the Virginia State Police for the excellent manner in which they provided traffic and crowd control for the parade. They are true professionals.
To all who came out to view the parade, thanks. With your support, the parade gets better each year.
May each of you have a safe and Happy New Year & God Bless You.
Raymond P. Turner, Jr.,
Chairman, Cumberland
County Christmas Parade Committee
