DILLWYN, Feb. 22 – Charlotte Wharam Allen, 77, of Dillwyn, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She was born November 26, 1933.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Francis R. Allen (Richard Jr.); a son, Kendall C. Allen and wife, Kathy; three grandsons, Brian and wife, Reva, Justin and Michael; sisters, Ruby W. Parker (Jerry) of Oklahoma, Ethel W. Almond (Larry) of Arvonia, and Bertha W. Toney of Dillwyn; brothers, Sammy Wharam (Faye) of New Canton and J.C. Wharam (Peggy) of Dillwyn; three sisters-in-law, Annie Mae, Mary and Gladys; a host of nieces and nephews, a neighborhood of caring friends, caregivers, relatives, and a special friend, Ernestine Gormus.

She is preceded in death by her father, Herbert Wharam, mother, Cassie Wharam, and brothers, Herbert, Kenneth, Curtis and Suddith.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 21, at Dunkum Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Rocky Mount Methodist Church.

Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, served the family.
