JANUARY 25 – Donald Jennings Strock, of Farmville, passed away Friday, January 21, 2011 at his home. He was born in New Jersey, September 15, 1924 to the late Wilmer and Bertha Jennings Strock. He was an honorable Marine serving his country during World War II in the Soloman Islands, was a member of the American Legion, Farmville and was currently serving as Commander of VFW Post # 7059, Farmville. He was also a member of Heritage Baptist Church, Farmville.

Mr. Strock enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and writing Letters to the Editor of local newspapers.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty J. Strock; two daughters, Barbara Gray and son-in-law, Charles Gray of Dublin, PA and Rebecca Jackson and son-in-law, John F. Jackson of Cartersville; sister, Gladys Smith of Salorsburg, PA; six grandchildren, Crystal Hamilton, Sarah Handy, Daniel Hunley, Amber Jackson, Randy Jackson and David Jackson; three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 25, in the chapel at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
