Mildred Murphy

DILLWYN, Dec. 21 – Mildred Moss Murphy, 80, of Dillwyn, joined her Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 19, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, Laura and John R. Moss Sr., her husband, Robert E. Murphy Sr., son, Harry Lynn, daughter, Jean M. Poff, granddaughter, Tammy M. Jamerson, two brothers, Thomas J. Moss and John R. Moss Jr. and a sister, Bessie M. Llewellyn.

Mrs. Murphy was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church, of Dillwyn, active with the Helping Hands Organization, and a charter member of the Dillwyn Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by a son, Robert E. Murphy Jr. and wife, Frances; two grandsons, Harry Lynn (Kim) and Robert Todd (Jackie); six great-grandchildren, Brittany, Cole, Dalton, Skyler, Jordan and Gage; nine sisters and brothers, Lindberg Moss, Bot Moss, Irvin Moss, Anna Belle McDevitt, and Margie Brickey, all of Richmond, June Woodcock of Powhatan, Nellie O'Bryant, Diane Flippin and Bill Lewis Moss, all of Dillwyn.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday (tonight), December 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dunkum Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be on Wednesday, December 22, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Dillwyn, with interment in the Dillwyn Town Cemetery.

The family requests donations be made to Helping Hands of First Baptist Church, Dillwyn Fire Department or Buckingham County Rescue Squad.

The family would like to thank all for your prayers and acts of kindness shown during this time.
