BURKEVILLE, Dec. 7 – Charlie Ellison Hodnett Jr., of Burkeville, son of the late Charlie and Emma Hodnett, died Sunday, December 5, 2010.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Wilma Bayne Hodnett.

Mr. Hodnett was born July 30, 1928 in Amelia County. He retired from the Norfolk Western Railroad after about 35 years. He was a member of the Ledbetter Christian Church, a member and past master of Masonic Lodge #147, a 33rd Degree Shriner, Ruritan member, a past Sunday school teacher, and was very active in the community.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Cindy Pearson (Todd) of Farmville the three stepsons, Jerry Carrington (Peggy) of Crewe, Timmy Clark (Linda) of Victoria and Glenn Clark of Eadton, NC; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alma Jenkins and Olive Griffin of Richmond and Louise Talley of Harrisonburg. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Thomas Clark of Victoria, brother, Aylor of Greensboro, NC, sisters, Lillian White and Margaret Hodnett of Amelia, Ethel Dardon and Marian Goyne of Richmond.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, (today) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home, Crewe.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 3 p.m. with interment at Sunset Cemetery, Burkeville.

The family requests contributions be made to the Shriner's Childrens Hospital or Burkeville Emergency Squad.
