James “Egg” Eggleston 73

OCTOBER 19 – James William (Egg) Eggleston, 73, of Farmville, passed away Monday morning, October 18, 2010 at his residence. He was born October 2, 1937 in Rice, the son of the late George and Annie Carmichael Eggleston. He was a charter member of the Prince Edward County Rescue Squad.

Egg was a used car dealer, he operated Eggleston Auto Sales in Farmville for nearly 50 years. He loved collecting antique cars, going to car shows and auctions. He also loved his farms and all the animals. Mr. Eggleston was a rental landlord for many years. Egg loved spending time in Daytona Beach, Florida. He had not missed a Daytona 500 week since the early 1960's.

He is survived by his daughter and business partner, Joyce Paige Eggleston of Farmville; brother, Reggie Eggleston of Prospect; sister, Ruby Barton of Amelia; aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and special nieces, Maria and Alexandra Dickinson both of Powhatan. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Eggleston.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 21, at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Prince Edward County Rescue Squad or to Fuqua School.

The family would like to invite everyone to the Gee Price Center at Fuqua School for light refreshments after the service at 4 p.m.
