Tommie Irvin Miles, 74 Of Rice Dies Friday In Richmond

RICE, Jan. 12 – Tommie Irvin Miles, 74, of Rice, passed away Friday, January 8, 2010 in Richmond.

He is survived by his wife, Florence Marie Bowman Miles; brothers, James “Pete” Miles and wife, Annie May and Allen “Ray” Miles and wife, Patsy all of Dillwyn; sisters, Gladys Toney and husband, Frank of Highland Springs, Cora Frances Smith and Shirley Waycaster both of Dillwyn, and Faye Marion and husband, Curtis of Cumberland; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cora Miles and two brothers, Earl Miles and Stanley Miles.

He was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church in Rice and served as deacon and usher. He was retired from the Green Bay District of the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Mr. Miles loved to deer and rabbit hunt, garden, and visit with family and friends. He loved to go to the Farmer's Daughters and rock in the rocking chairs and socialize.
