The Rainfall Is An Answered Prayer

Finally.

After so many days with no meaningful rain, our region has been blessed with a series of widespread showering, pelting, drenching storm systems bringing inches of rain.

More than one month had passed since we'd seen an actual rainy day, but we got at least one of those, too, as a summer's worth of rain has fallen in the last couple of weeks. Too late, of course, for such things as a farmer's corn crop. And garden tomatoes have pretty much seen their day.

But how quickly yards and fields turned green again, seemingly resurrecting spring. Nature is so very resilient. Hammered by weeks without rain and days of baking, 100-plus degree heat. And yet now, to look at our lawns and pastures, you'd never know it, and there is hope for a good fall cutting of hay.

Many people took their cue from nature and saw their moods green up, too, happy at the healing of the earth and having to cut the grass regularly again. Joyful, as well, at such water for wells and streaming rivers.

Amen.
