Stewart B. Nelson, 87 WWII Veteran Dies January 20

ABILENE, Jan. 22 – Stewart Benjamin Nelson, 87, of Charlotte County, Abilene, died on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, after a long illness. Mr. Nelson was a retired farmer and World War II veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Adams Nelson; a son, Jimmy S. Nelson and daughter-in-law, Carol Noonkester; a daughter, Lisa L. Nelson, all of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Gladys Nelson; two brothers, Boyd and Gregory Nelson; and a sister, Mary Ethel Mitchell.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 24, at 2 p.m. at the Browning Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home with cremation to follow.
