Russell N. Carson, 85

RALEIGH, NC, July 13 -Russell Nolan Carson, 85, died Sunday, July 11, 2004.

He was the son of the late Charles E. Carson and Eula Gibson Carson and was a native of Cullen.

Mr. Carson retired from the United States Navy in 1958 after 20 years of dedicated service. He then worked for Sears in Norfolk for 10 years before returning to Cullen to become the Charlotte County Building Inspector. In 1979 he retired again and moved to Wake County, NC, where he was an avid golfer and carpenter. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Raleigh.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Carson and two children, Larry Carson of Chesapeake and Carol Walters of Raleigh, NC; his brother, Howard Carson of Cullen and Ed Carson of New Orleans, LA; his sisters, Joyce Locke of Charlottesville and Marge Bowman of Lynchburg; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

A graveside service was held 1 p.m. today (Tuesday) in Madisonville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
