Mildred 'Rose' Boerner, 83

NOVEMBER 11 – Mildred “Rose” Vanschaik Boerner, 83, of Farmville, died Saturday, November 8, 2008 at her home. She was the wife of the late Charles Boerner.

Born November 27, 1924 in New Haledon, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Tillie Vreland Vanschaik. She was a homemaker and a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and the Garden Club in Cumberland. Mildred truly loved flowers, animals and birds. She would rescue any and all stray or injured animals.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and John Vanschaik and a sister, Edith Vanschaik.

She is survived by four sisters, Gloria Molt of Farmville, Tillie Van Slooten of Pequanock, NJ, Regina Johnson of North Haledon, NJ and Joan Payne of Vernon Township, NJ; a brother, Elais Vanschaik; a son; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a best friend and caregiver, Nancy Jackson of Farmville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 13 at Shorter Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
