Jackie L. Bryan, 72 Ret. US Air Force Dies August 19

AUGUST 20 – Jackie Lewis Bryan, 72, departed this life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 19, 2009.

He leaves behind a loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Eldora Bryan of Cumberland; seven children, Vickie Ford and husband, Bill of Amelia, Bradford Bryan and wife, Pat of Gloucester, Donald Bryan and wife, Dennis of Dillwyn, Debra Smiley and husband, William of Dillwyn, Rhonda Ebeling of Cumberland, Teresa Harris and husband, Tim of Valentine, and Jacqueline Pacelli and husband, Mike of Chester; eight grand-children, Tony Perutelli, Shannon Perutelli, and Heather Perutelli all of Richmond, Brandon Bryan of Cartersville, Erik Bryan of Buckingham, Brittany Lewis of Valentine, and Taylor and Jacob Pacelli of Chester; a greatgrandchild, Kimberleigh Bryan of Buckingham; and a brother, Andrew Nicholas (Nick) Bryan and wife, Helen of Cumberland and their children, Andy Bryan and Jennifer Johnson and their families.

Mr. Bryan retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service to his country. He completed one tour of duty in Vietnam, and received the Bronze Star and served various duty assignments all over the world. After retiring from the military, he went to work for the Virginia Department of Corrections where his career began at Powhatan Correctional Center and he rose to the rank of Captain where he retired in 1998 after 20 years of service from the Virginia Correctional Center for Women.

Family night will be held at Dunkum Funeral Home on Friday from 6-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at Jones Chapel in Cumberland on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, is in charge of arrangements.
