Funeral Service To Be Held Wednesday For Corinne Banton, 75

JANUARY 26 – Katherine Corinne Garvin Banton, 75, of Nottoway County, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010 at her home. She was the beloved wife of Loy J. Banton for 57 years.

Born January 3, 1935 in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Roland and Margaret Marian Lawhorne Garvin and was also preceded in death by a brother, Harry 0. Garvin; and a sister, Reaver Garvin Miller.

Mrs. Banton spent her early adult years as an employee of Nationwide Insurance in Lynchburg and upon her retirement, began a second career as an employee of the Amherst County Court System. She also coauthored a book on the Garvin family genealogy. She was a lifelong and faithful member of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Charles “Chuck” Garvin Banton and wife, Diana of Concord, NC and Edgar “Ed” Jonathan Banton of Lunenburg County; two sisters, Virginia Garvin Reeves of Madison Heights and Grace Garvin Brooks of Wilkesboro, NC and three grandsons, Craig Garvin Banton, Cameron Martin Banton, and Edgar Roland Banton.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. John Ragland officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of Jerry and Sara Blondino in Madison Heights.
