Funeral Service For Dorothy 'Dot” Roberts, 82 Held December 11

CREWE, Dec. 15 – Dorothy B. “Dot” Roberts, 82, of Crewe, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2009.
She is survived by a son, Lawrence E. “Lee” Roberts Jr. and wife, Audrey of Crewe; daughter, Cheryl R. Hollomon and husband, Edward, of Nottoway; three grandchildren, Sandra N. Roberts, Tracie J. Roberts, and Tiffany N. Miller; step-granddaughter, Crystal C. Harris and her two children, Zachary and Kayla; two nieces, Cathy L. Maine and Julie L. Reedy and a nephew, David Loving. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Floyd and Mary Neal Branson; husband, Lawrence E. Roberts Sr.; brother, Kyle Branson and a sister, Jean Loving.
Mrs. Roberts was instrumental in starting the Crewe-Burkeville Community Band. She organized the Crewe High School Band and served as Director. She then started the Prince Edward Academy Band and served as Director for many years before retiring in 1991. She was a past member of Bethlehem Chapter #15 Order of the Eastern Star.
She was a member of Crewe United Methodist Church, where funeral services were held Friday, with interment in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice.
Memorial contributions may be made to Crewe United Methodist Bell Fund, Crewe Volunteer Fire Department or Nottoway County Emergency Squad.
