Edgar Dunnavant, 87

FEBRUARY 10 – Edgar Glenn Dunnavant, 87, of Farmville passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 at his residence. He was born December 15, 1921 in Lunenburg County, the son of the late Ellis C. and Lena Cocke Dunnavant.

Mr. Dunnavant served his country in the United States Army during WWII where he was captured during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a farmer and loved working on the land. He was married to his loving wife, Pauline Metcalf Dunnavant for 65 years. Mr. Dunnavant retired from Southern States.

He is survived by his wife, his brother, Ezra Dunnavant of Fairfax, numerous loving nieces and nephews and his faithful caregivers, Jane Marion, Debbie Carwile and Nannie Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Malcolm, Courtney and Hular; his sisters, Alma Johnson and Valma Higgins and his nephew, Malcolm Jr.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home with interment in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Rice.

Family will receive friends Tuesday evening 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Disabled Veterans Association, Prince Edward County Rescue Squad or to a charity of your choice.
