CUMBERLAND – According to the County's School Board Chair, Dr. Christine Ross, selection of the new superintendent will be made soon.
“They ran up and down the East Coast,” offered Dr. Ross about the applicants who applied. “We didn't get any from the Midwest or the other side of the U.S but we did get a nice pool…”
According to her comments, the Board has already picked its top four candidates.
“I hope by the next School Board meeting, there is a good possibility, that we will be able to name our superintendent candidate for the school system very soon…”
The application process closed on July 21 and there have been no additional responses received, she noted.
The School Board members also took time during their summer work session in July to discuss the process and are ready to narrow down those top interests to two in the near future.
“With any luck we'll be able to get a candidate out of the first applicant pool and conduct the interview and move forward from that point,” she concluded.
The School Board started the search process on July 1 and Dr. Amy Griffin has been serving as Acting Superintendent of Cumberland County Public Schools.
