Pastor Hugo Womack, 57 Shiloh Baptist Church, Died Friday, May 28

JUNE 10 – Pastor Hugo Womack Jr., 57, passed away Friday, May 28, 2010 at Centra Southside Community Hospital in Farmville. He was born January 30, 1953 to Deacon Hugo Womack Sr. and the late Inez Wesley Womack. He was a native of Prince Edward County and spent most of his life in the area.

Pastor Womack made many friends while working at Central Fidelity Bank, (now Wachovia) in Farmville and Lynchburg. He was also employed for several years as a counselor/mentor to the students of the Rivermont School in Chase City. He was the pastor of the Shiloh Baptist Church of Drakes Branch for 18 years. Pastor Womack also enjoyed his duties with the Darlington Heights Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Division of Clergy of the Bluestone Harmony Association in Keysville, the Southside Christian Association, and the Appomattox Ministerial Association.

He leaves to cherish precious memories his wife, Charlotte Herndon Womack; daughter, Tracy Womack DeBeary; son, Jon Wilson Womack; grandchildren, Tiara Grace DeBeary and Michael Charles DeBeary; father, Deacon Hugo Womack Sr.; sisters, Barbara Womack Barnes (Robert) and Beatrice Womack Finney (Maurice); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eddie and Ernestine Herndon; brothers-in-law, David Woodson (Sandy), Charles Herndon Jr. (Wilma), and Michael Herndon (Jean); sister-in-law, Carrie Walton Herndon; uncle, Samuel Wesley (Helen); aunts, Maddie Wesley Wilks, Ernestine Womack Hamilton, Mildred Womack Patterson, Josephine Womack, and Margaret Wesley; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family received friends at the Shiloh Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 2. Funeral services were held June 3 at the Triumph Baptist Church of Darlington Heights.

The Bruce and Stiff Funeral Home, Appomattox, was in charge of arrangements.
