October 16 — “Why is it that at class reunions you feel younger than everyone else looks?”

The Class of 1956 of Farmville High School held its reunion on Saturday at Fuqua School. A fun time was had by all present and those not with them were greatly missed. The food was good and the fellowship was even better. Fifty-two graduated back in 1956 and 16 have passed away. They are looking forward to the next reunion in two years.

Elam-Area News

The orange, yellows, and reds of the fall foliage, the piles of acorns and hickory nuts, and the nip in the air tell us that fall is here and it is time to put summer away and winterize the house.  It is sort of sad to put the lawn chairs and swing away until next April.  No more late afternoons and evenings watching the dogs and cats play and the cattle and deer graze.

My father-in-law George Abbitt Covington had an unique way of storing his favorite lawn chair.  He hung it up on a railroad spike that was nailed into a maple tree in the front yard.
