Adjusting my telescope this way and that, it still remains difficult for me to see how cutting $300,000 in local funding from the Prince Edward County Public School budget is going to improve public education in Prince Edward County.

Difficult for me to see?

Impossible.

And his actions, through Walk2Campus, allow all of us to follow his vision and see for ourselves.

If there are any Doubting Thomases out there questioning the brightness of the Farmville community’s future, advise them to ponder the faith of Walk2Campus. Walk2Campus is so “all in” that Houdini could not unlock the ties that bind the company to Farmville. Not that Matt King and Walk2Campus would want him to.

Words That A Reader Could Not Forget: SEAL Your Own Fate
The phone call came into the newsroom the week before Christmas, 2013. A reader from Cumberland wanted a copy of a story he remembered reading in a spring issue of The Herald. April or May of that same year. The words of a Navy SEAL, well, he just couldn’t get them out of his head, so filled were they with wisdom. He wanted a copy of the story to make certain he had them all and could keep the sage phrases, that so seasoned his memory, for their inspiration.

Good Friday, 2015: Sharing Light And Love

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness,” said the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who was assassinated 47 years ago tomorrow evening. “Only light can do that. 

“Hate cannot drive out hate,” he said. “Only love can do that.”

Light and love will rise on Sunday and, if we let it, resurrect the world from both the darkness and the hate.
