ARVONIA, December 17 — Nellie “Chunk” Snoddy Gregory, 98, of Arvonia, passed peacefully in Richmond on Monday, December 2, 2013. Born on December 22, 1914 in Arvonia, she was the daughter of the late James Lewis Snoddy and Nellie Meador Snoddy. DARLINGTON HEIGHTS, December 17 — Rosalie Metcalf Lamberth, 92, of Darlington Heights, widow of Albert Earl Lamberth Sr., passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Lamberth was born May 23, 1921, the daughter of the late E. Frank and Bergie Elmira Metcalf, of Cullen.
She was a woman of great strength, courage, and integrity with a faith that sustained her through many trials and lifted her during times of joy. Her greatest joy was the family she loved and served faithfully all her days. Her family celebrates her life, her love, her prayers, and guidance. DECEMBER 10 — McKay Edward “Mac” Massey, 86, of Farmville, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013. He was born on March 21, 1927 in Bryson City, NC to the late Geneva Cunningham Massey and Kenneth Massey.
He enlisted in the US Navy on February 27, 1945 and did his recruit training in Bainbridge, MD. He served in various duty stations, including the USS Alaska. Mr. Massey received the American Theatre Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal. In the service, he was a rifle marksman. Back at home, he worked as a meat cutter and was known as “Mac the Knife” and was a popular local musician. Tuesday, December 10, 2013
