FARMVILLE — The Buckingham Knights took a 42-17 home win over the Gate City Blue Devils on Saturday, November 30.
This win advances the Knights to the VHSL 2A State Semifinals that will take place on Saturday, December 7. Buckingham will trek to Franklin County for a game against the Brunswick High School Bulldogs at the Armory Field. Tuesday, December 3, 2013
FARMVILLE — On Friday, November 29, members of the Farmville community gathered at the Farmville Municipal Golf Club for a birthday celebration held for the "Fabulous Four."
Nancy Haga, event coordinator, commented, "We are very pleased with the turnout. Over 300 people came out to thank these four for what they have done for our community."

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY — Wesley College, receiving votes in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, used 50 percent second half shooting to upset #8 Hampden-Sydney 78-72 on Tuesday evening.
In a back-and-forth affair, Hampden-Sydney took the early advantage, 12-5, less than five minutes in and expanded the lead to 16-9 at the 12:36 mark. FAIRFAX — Sophomore Daeisha Brown/Richmond posted 22 points to lead three double-digit scorers, as the Longwood University women's basketball team conceded a last-second bucket to fall, 66-65, at George Mason University (5-2) on Tuesday evening in Fairfax. The Patriots' Sandra Ngoie hit the go-ahead jumper with just two seconds left on the clock to seal the decision for the home squad. The Lancers led by as many as 16 in the first half before George Mason put together a 20-10 run in the second half to knot the score at 59-59 with just over four minutes to play en route to the victory. Redshirt-senior Heather Tobeck/La Porte, Texas added to the Lancers' offensive effort with a career-high 21 points, while sophomore Khalilah Ali/Suffolk placed the team on the boards with 10 rebounds. HAMPDEN-SYDNEY — The Hampden-Sydney Tigers (9-2, 6-1 ODAC) claimed their first-ever playoff victory with a 42-34 home victory over Maryville (8-3, 6-1 USA South) in the first round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship. The Tigers extend their season and face Linfield on Saturday, November 30.
The game was back-and-forth with each team holding leads, but the Tigers took a 21-20 lead early in the second quarter and held on throughout. Junior receiver Holton Walker (Lynchburg/Brookville) broke school records for single-game receptions and single-game receiving yards as he hauled in 16 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns. Junior quarterback Nash Nance (Calhoun, GA/Tennessee) threw five touchdown passes to go with 338 yards and one interception on 23-of-40 accuracy. Tuesday, November 26, 2013
FARMVILLE — Another one bites the dust as the Buckingham Knights earned a 15-6 win over the Dan River Wildcats in the second round of the VHSL 2A playoffs on Friday, November 22.
The game was off to a slow start with neither team scoring until the latter part of the first half. Dan River receiver and Conference 37 Player of the Year, Terrell Edmunds, snuck in the end zone with eight minutes left in the second quarter, scoring the sole Dan River touchdown of the night. The Farmville Recreation Department wrapped up its Fall Adult Basketball League season with a League Championship game on November 14. The Average Joes defeated U.O.E.N.O. 68-43.
