Belle Branch Takes Conservation Honors
Award winners, recipients and those recognized during the banquet are congratulated by members of the PFSWCD Board of Directors. Those recognized included Mike and Gloria Waycaster, Ann Mason Field, Jim and Betty Tillett, Annie Lou Parr, the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries’ Dan Michaelson, Blair Smyth, Cale Godfrey, and Katie Martin; Seth Davis, Cody Smith, Malachi Smith, and Kenny Townsend.

GRAVEL HILL — Mike and Gloria Waycaster aren’t only proud of the blue and white diamond-shaped sign they plan on posting on one of their farm’s fences soon against the colorful plethora of birdhouses.

They’re also proud of their farm’s impact on cleaning up the Chesapeake Bay, hundreds of miles east of their family-owned and operated Belle Branch Farm.

Wandering around the spacious Moton Museum on an early March evening you would have found a pint-size Lena Horne, Jackie Robinson, and Thurgood Marshall among a collection of historic figures. Press the “push here” tag on their backs and they come alive, telling how they made a difference.
