Cattleman Award Scholarships
The Buckingham Cattleman’s Association awarded two $1000 college scholarships at their annual members and family summer picnic on Tuesday, July 8. The recipients of this year’s scholarships were Mary Huddleston, an animal and poultry sciences major at Virginia Tech who intends to study equine medicine in veterinary school, and Cora Bethany Moyer, another animal and poultry sciences major at Virginia Tech who is currently enrolled in the pre-vet option. Gospel Singing Program

The Jewel Gospel Singers are sponsoring a gospel singing program on Saturday, July 19 starting at 3 p.m. The Callahan Family, Faith Redeemers, and Heavenly Voices will appear in this full-scale sing-out. Come out and join your voice to the throng! Everyone is welcome. The program will take place at Thessalonia Baptist Church located at 677 Thessalonia Road in Fork Union.

“I am very excited to be heading to Brazil. I will be serving as Special Education Coordinator, developing a special education program for the school there.  We each have our own way to serve God.  I believe that at least for this season of my life, this is my way to serve.  I am looking forward to being able to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with children and teenagers from around the world who will be attending our school and with their families as they become part of our school community,” comments Frances Shirey about her upcoming mission work.
