Ellis Acres (12)

A building that once housed the Vocational Agriculture Shop for Buckingham Training School students and later served as classrooms for the S. J. Ellis Elementary School has been renovated inside and out for use as the EAMP Community Building. Inside, the building offers a large foyer and reception area, a fully equipped commercial kitchen, two classrooms, and a large conference room. To the left of the building are new outdoor restrooms. Standing in front of the building are Wilbert Dean, who is credited with having the vision for building the multi-use park for all Buckingham residents and guests, and Dr. Elizabeth Gilboy, director of the Community Design Assistance Center at Virginia Tech. In 2007, Gilboy and student teams from Virginia Tech began working with Dean and the Executive Board of EAMP to develop the conceptual plan for the park.
