A composition charge of at least 25% will be added for advertisements requiring heavy or difficult composition. A charge of $120 shall be made for one spot color. Color copy must be furnished at least four days prior to insertion date. For more than one color, contact the Herald for rates. *Column Inch Rate is based on the standard advertising unit size of columns 2 1/16-inches wide with 1/8" between columns. Local Contract RatesLocal contract rates are in effect only on a contract basis of six months duration, requiring a guaranteed minimum of 50 column Inches per month. Rates will apply according to actual lineage used in a calendar month.
See Item 14 for zoning details. Consult The Herald for inserts larger than 24 tabloid pages, or weighing more than two ounces. Inserts must comply with all postal regulations and must receive prior approval by The Herald. Standard page is not over 14"x22¾" and tabloid page is 11"x14" or smaller. The Free News

$4.00 per column inch The Free News is a full size newspaper providing total market coverage when used in combination with The Herald. The circulation of The Free News does not duplicate the circulation of The Herald. The Free News will accept preprinted inserts based on a rate of 7c each for one ounce or less (six standard pages or 12 tabloid pages). Consult The Herald for inserts over one ounce. Contract advertisers with six or more inserts per year may qualify for a volume discount if the full circulation of The Free News is used. Consult The Herald for details on weight, size, and frequency. Etc 1Classified advertisements, whether ordered for Wednesday or Friday publication or a combination of both, will also run in the Free News at no extra charge. 2Preprinted inserts that are an odd size, or require hand insertion, will cost an additional 15% to quoted prices and must receive prior approval by The Herald. Conditions1. No front page advertising. 2. Reverse cuts will not be accepted for classified advertising. 3. Demand Position will be honored when paid for at rate of 25% in addition to the regular rate. Demand position will not be sold if it will cause make-up problems, in the opinion of the publisher. Demand position is not available on the editorial page. social page or sports page. 4. Requested positions will be given if possible. 5. The right is reserved to reject any advertisement. No one may accept an advertisement for publication except the publisher or the advertising manager. 6. All advertisements must measure as many inches in depth as columns in width. 7. Display advertising copy must be presented for publication by 4 p.m. on Tuesday for publication on Friday and by 12 noon on Monday for publication on Wednesday. 8. No display advertisement will be counted at less than one column inch. 9. In the event of a typographical error, advertising goods at less than the proper price, the Herald will furnish a letter to the advertiser to be posted in the store, stating the correct price, but will not assume any liability for any difference in case the goods are sold at the incorrect price. 10. Revision of the original copy will be charged for at expense of composition, and will be made only when it can be done without delaying publication of the paper. 11. Pictures furnished by the customer will carry a $l.00 minimum fee per halftone, per insertion. Enlargements, reductions or difficult composition may require additional charge. Herald staff members are available to take pictures. Schedule of charges for photographic services is available upon request. 12. Additional charge will be made for tabloid size or small editions requiring separate section. 13. Available to non-contract advertisers. Alternating successive runs of same copy may qualify for discount. (Example: first run open local rate. second run at discount. third run open local, fourth run discounted, etc.) Pick-up must be scheduled within four weeks. 14. Zoning of inserts by zip code is acceptable with a 5,000 minimum in The Herald. Cost per thousand for zoning is $15.00 in both Free News and The Herald.
