A vehicle fire Monday evening on Farmville Road in Meherrin, outside of Rick’s Mini Mart, resulted in a total loss of the vehicle. Trey Pyle, chief of the Meherrin Volunteer Fire and Rescue, said Tuesday morning that the cause of the fire to the 2007 Chevy Silverado appeared to have been due to the vehicle’s driver seat warmer. “Driver stated the vehicle’s driver seat warmer caught fire while driving,” Pyle said, who cited the department had been dispatched shortly after 5 p.m. Monday. “He was able to pull over at Rick’s Mini Mart and safely exit the vehicle.” Pyle said the Meherrin department was the only department that had responded to the incident. “The vehicle was a total loss,” Pyle said.
